Indiana struggling in Big Ten
The Indiana Hoosiers have lost two straight and three of their last four following a 42-16 loss at home to Iowa this past weekend. IU is now 4-3 overall, 1-3 in the Big Ten, 2-5 against the spread and 4-3 with the over. The Hoosiers have failed to cover in their three Big Ten losses.
Indiana has been respectable on offense this year, averaging 26.1 points and just under 400 yards per game. Quarterback Peyton Ramsey has thrown for 1,624 yards and 12 touchdowns, but also has seven interceptions. Stevie Scott is the leading rusher with 557 yards and four scores. Four different receivers have over 200 yards and a touchdown for the Hoosiers this season, as Ramsey has spread the ball around well.
Nittany Lions need a win
The Penn State football team has lost two straight games to Ohio State and Michigan State. The two losses came by a combined five points. Penn State is now 4-2 on the season, 1-2 in the Big Ten, 4-2 against the spread and 4-2 with the over. Last week’s loss ended a four-game cover streak for Penn State.
Despite some offensive struggles in the recent losses, Penn State is averaging 44.2 points and 491.2 yards per game on offense this season. Miles Sanders has run for 700 yards and seven touchdowns this year for Penn State while quarterback Trace McSorley has thrown for 1,241 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 447 yards and six touchdowns. KJ Hamler has caught 18 passes for 374 yards and five scores. Defensively, Penn State is allowing 21 points and 365 yards per game.
College Football Betting Trends
Indiana
Indiana is 3-8-1 against the spread in their last 12 home games and 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Penn State
Penn State is 13-3-2 against the spread in their last 18 against a team with a winning record and 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games in October.
Prediction:
Penn State is looking forward to not playing one of the better teams in the Big Ten this week and that should open up the offensive options for the Nittany Lions. They will certainly break big plays on the Hoosiers today. Indiana has struggled with similar caliber of teams and I don’t think it can keep pace with what Penn State will do on offense.
