SC gets big upset
The South Carolina football team is coming off an OT upset of Georgia on the road, 20-17, last weekend. The Gamecocks are 3-3 on the season, 2-2 in the SEC, 4-2 against the spread and 4-2 with the under.
South Carolina is in the middle of the road on offense and defense this year. The offense is putting up 28.8 points and 409.8 yards per game while the defense is giving up 23.2 points and 403.7 yards per outing. Quarterback Ryan Hilinski suffered a knee injury last weekend and is listed as probable to play today. He has thrown for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns this season. Bryan Edwards is the team’s leading receiver with 33 catches for 426 yards and four touchdowns while Rico Dowdle has 449 rushing yards and four scores. Israel Mukuamu is leading the defense with 37 tackles and four interceptions.
LSU too much for Florida
Florida is coming off a tough 42-28 loss at LSU last weekend for its first loss of the 2019 campaign. The Gators are 6-1 on the season, 3-1 in the SEC, 4-3 against the spread and 5-2 with the under this year.
The Gators are a strong defensive team, allowing just 14.1 points and 314.3 yards per game this season. Jonathan Greenard is leading the defense with 26 tackles and four sacks. Offensively, Florida is putting up 31.7 points and 429.3 yards per contest. Kyle Trask has thrown for 1,191 yards and 10 touchdowns to lead the offense while Lamical Perine has rushed for 392 yards and four touchdowns. Kyle Pitts has 30 catches for 362 yards and three scores.
College Football Betting Trends
South Carolina
The Gamecocks have covered the spread in five of their last six conference games and in four of their last five at home.
Florida
The Gators are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games on grass and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games.
Prediction:
The home team has won three straight in this series and South Carolina is 3-1-1 against the spread in its last five against Florida. I know the Gamecocks looked great last week in an upset of Georgia, but I don’t think that makes them a great team. They still have three games and are not much of an offense. That is going to be a problem against a really good Florida defense that should be pretty angry after giving up 42 at LSU last weekend. Florida’s offense isn’t going to light the world on fire, but the Gators can grind out scoring possessions. After SC beat Georgia last week, you know Florida won’t be looking past South Carolina today.
