Memphis vs. Houston Prediction

College Football Predictions: Memphis vs. Houston 10/19/17

Can No. 25 Memphis pick up a win as a road underdog when it faces Houston tonight at 8PM ET on ESPN.

According to oddsmakers at, Houston is favored at home in this game, as the Cougars are getting odds of -2.5 points against Memphis. The over/under total is listed at 61 points. Houston has won six of the last seven in this series, but Memphis has covered the spread in the last two meetings. The public is currently putting 69 percent of the wagers on Memphis on the road. Tonight’s game takes place from TDECU Stadium in Houston, Texas and will air live on ESPN.

Houston is coming off a 45-17 loss at Tulsa to fall to 4-2 on the season. The Cougars are also 2-1 in conference play and 3-3 against the spread. Houston is holding opponents to just 21 points per game despite allowing 403 yards per contest. Offensively, Houston is putting up 25.5 points and 424.8 yards per game. Kyle Postma has emerged as the QB of the team lately. He has 805 passing yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. Duke Catalon is the leading rusher with 431 yards and four touchdowns while Steven Dunbar has 40 receptions for 462 yards.

Memphis is coming off a 30-27 win at home over Navy to get back into the top-25 rankings. The Tigers are now 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in the AAC. They are also 2-3-1 against the spread this year. Memphis is averaging 40.3 points and 490.7 yards per game this season. Riley Ferguson has thrown for 1,814 yards and 19 touchdowns to lead the offense. He is dealing with a knee injury, but is expected to play tonight. Anthony Miller is the leading receiver with 45 catches for 606 yards and nine touchdowns while Darrell Henderson has rushed for 542 yards and three touchdowns. The Memphis defense is allowing 33.8 points and 477.5 yards per game this season, including over 200 rushing yards per contest.

Bet on Memphis vs. Houston

Memphis had its only loss come on the road when it was destroyed by Central Florida, but I don’t think Houston is the Knights. Memphis has looked pretty strong otherwise, especially on the offensive end. I think that will be tough for Houston to handle. The Cougars will have to keep up a strong scoring pace to win and I don’t know that they can. They have been held in check before at home I think they will be again tonight.
