Stanford trying to get back over .500

The Cardinal have won two straight, including an upset of Washington at home two weeks ago. Stanford is now 3-3 on the season, 2-2 in the Pac-12, 2-4 against the spread and 3-3 with the over/under total.

Stanford has not been anything special on either side of the ball this year. The Cardinal are giving up 26.5 points and 393.7 yards per game on defense while putting up 20.7 points and 353 yards per game on offense. KJ Costello has missed a lot of time under center due to injury and he will sit out again tonight despite early reports of his return this week. He has thrown for 471 yards and two touchdowns. Davis Mills will get the start in place of Costello. Mills has thrown or 890 yards and five touchdowns. Cameron Scarlett has rushed for 564 yards and two touchdowns while Michael Wilson has caught 25 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

UCLA struggling

The UCLA Bruins took another loss in their last outing, a 48-31 loss at Oregon State on October 5. That dropped UCLA to just 1-5 on the season. The Bruins are 1-2 in the Pac-12, 1-4-1 against the spread and 4-2 with the under

UCLA has struggled on defense all season, allowing 37.7 points and 503.3 yards per game. Offensively, UCLA is putting up 26.2 points and 393.7 yards per contest. Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been leading the team with 1,243 passing yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for a pair of scores as well. He is listed as questionable to play tonight due to an ankle injury and there is no update on if he will go. Joshua Kelley is leading the way with 395 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Demetric Felton has 307 yards on the ground. Felton is also the leading receiver with 31 catches for 397 yards and three touchdowns.

College Football Betting Trends

Stanford

The Cardinal are 18-6-2 ATS in their last 26 games against a losing team and 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games.

UCLA

The Bruins are 17-35 against the spread in their last 52 games in October and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a double-digit loss at home.

Prediction:

Stanford has dominated this series, winning the last 10 meetings while 8-1-1 against the spread in those 10 games. While the Cardinal are without Costello, it hasn’t kept them from beating the likes of Oregon State and Washington in recent weeks. Stanford still has a pretty good defense and that should be enough to carry it to a win and cover against UCLA. The Bruins aren’t at 100 percent either and have struggled to move the ball on the road this year against lesser defenses.
