Monroe unbeaten in conference play
The UL Monroe football team is coming off a 24-14 win at Texas State last week to improve to 3-3 on the season and 2-0 in the Sun Belt. The Warhawks are 2-4 against the spread and 3-3 with the over/under total.
Monroe has struggled defensively this season, allowing 34.8 points and 478.7 yards per game. The Warhawks aren’t too bad on offense, putting up 30.3 points and 463.2 yards per game. Josh Johnson has been leading the offense with 712 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Caleb Evans has thrown for 1,397 yards and 10 touchdowns while Josh Pederson has 24 catches for 288 yards and five touchdowns.
App State cracks the rankings
The Appalachian State football team continued its unbeaten season last week with a 17-7 win over Lafayette. The Mountaineers are 5-0 on the season, 2-0 in the Sun Belt, 4-1 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.
Appalachian State is putting up 41 points and 412 yards per game on offense while the defense is giving up 24.6 points and 386.8 yards per contest. Quarterback Zac Thomas has thrown for 949 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing for 166 yards and three scores. Darrynton Evans has rushed for 540 yards and nine touchdowns. College Football Betting Trends
UL Monroe
The Warhawks have hit the under in five straight conference games and in 10 of their last 13 road games.
Appalachian State
The Mountaineers have hit the under in five of their last seven conference meetings.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in their last four meetings. The Mountaineers are going to score on this Monroe defense. The Warhawks can’t stop anyone and App State has the ability to score in clumps. Defensively, the Mountaineers aren’t the sharpest team, but the Warhawks aren’t exactly going to overwhelm them on the road either. Their last two road games have seen them score 44 points combined. I think these two flirt with the over, but will come just shy of hitting it.
College Football Week 8 Prediction: UL Monroe/Appalachian State Under 65
