Troy looking to get back on track

Troy is coming off back-to-back losses entering this game, including a 42-10 loss at Missouri two weeks ago. The Trojans are 2-3 on the season, 0-1 in the Sun Belt, 1-4 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.

The Trojans are competitive on offense, averaging 34.6 points and 452.6 yards per game. Their passing attack is averaging over 300 yards per game. Defensively, Troy is giving up 32 points and 402.4 yards per game. The run defense is giving up just 93.8 yards per game though, which ranks 14th nationally. Kaleb Barker has thrown or 1,476 yards and 14 touchdowns to lead the offense, but he is questionable to play tonight due to a leg injury. DK Billingsley is the leading rusher with 350 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Kaylon Geiger is the leading receiver with 30 catches for 410 yards and two scores.

South Alabama looking for an upset

South Alabama hasn’t been able to get on track, dropping four straight following a 20-17 OT loss to Georgia Southern two weeks ago. The Jaguars are 1-5 on the season, 0-2 in the Sun Belt, 3-3 against the spread and 5-1 with the under.

The Jaguars haven’t been able to come up with much in terms of offense this year, averaging just 16.8 points and 319 yards per game. The defense hasn’t been too great either, allowing 29.3 points and 400.5 yards per contest. Tra Minter has been the offensive leader with 477 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Cephus Johnson has rushed for 199 yards and four scores as well as passing for 708 yards and five touchdowns. Kawaan Baker has caught 16 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns to lead the receivers.

College Football Betting Trends

Troy is 9-2-1 against the spread in their last 12 conference games, but just 2-7 ATS in their last nine games following a bye week.

South Alabama

The Jaguars have covered the spread in four straight conference games, but are just 10-21 ATS in their last 31 road games.

The road team has actually won four straight in this series and South Alabama has covered the spread in three of the last four against Troy. Troy has put up at least 40 points in three straight home games while the Jaguars have scored just 20 points combined in their last two road games. I just don’t see the South Alabama defense being able to do enough defensively to slow down Troy. The Jaguars are an awful offense and I think they will continue to struggle to score on the road.
