Georgia State Panthers Game Notes
Georgia State redshirt freshman QB Cornelious Brown completed 18-of-28 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-29 victory over ECU on Saturday. Brown (6’5/200) helped Georgia State get out of the gates quickly, leading the Panthers to a commanding 35-13 lead at halftime before putting it in cruise control in the second half. He averaged a solid 8.5 YPA for the game and overcame two interceptions as ECU’s defense simply had no answer for GSU. The redshirt freshman signal caller led their offense to 486 yards, which was a full 200 yards more than the 286 total yards ECU was able to scrap together. Georgia State has a bye next weekend before taking on Arkansas State in a Thursday night prime time SBC tilt.
Arkansas State Red Wolves Game Notes
Arkansas State redshirt sophomore QB Layne Hatcher completed 10-of-19 passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday’s 50-27 win over Central Arkansas. Hatcher (6’0/210) did not start this game. As the team has been doing the past few weeks, Hatcher split time with Logan Bonner, with the two often rotating in and out with every drive. Hatcher was the lesser quarterback on Saturday, but still plenty fiery in his own right. Though he could not match Bonner’s yardage total, he did match Bonner’s trio of touchdowns. Hatcher’s three touchdowns versus Central Arkansas were the same amount as he had thrown in the previous three games combined.
Georgia State vs. Arkansas State Betting Prediction
Georgia State is 2-10-2 against the spread in its last 14 road games, is 2-7-1 against the number in its last 10 games versus an opponent that has a losing record and has failed to cash in seven of its last 11 games as a road underdog (with two pushes). Arkansas State, meanwhile, is 4-1 against the number in its last five games overall, is 4-1 against the spread in its last five home games and has cashed in six of its last eight games coming off a loss. After underdog Coastal Carolina cashed last night, I see the favorite coming through tonight in the Sun Belt.
