Alabama vs. Tennessee Prediction
Can Tennessee hang with Alabama for yet another year or will the Crimson Tide roll today at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Crimson Tide is now a 13-point road favorite versus the Volunteers after opening as an 11.5-point favorite. The total, meanwhile, sits at 57.5 after opening at 58.
Alabama is now 7-2 against the spread in its last nine road games after covering versus Arkansas last Saturday as a double-digit favorite. The Tide is also 15-7 at the betting window in its last 22 games played in the month of October and has cashed for bettors in nine of its last 11 games when playing an opponent that has a winning record.
Tennessee is 7-1 against the spread in its last eight games versus opponents with a winning record and is a healthy 6-2 against the number in its last eight games coming off a loss. That said, the Vols are just 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
OUR PREDICTION: This is a bad matchup for Joshua Dobbs and the Vols. Dobbs has turned the ball over 13 times this season, has lost nine fumbles, which leads the SEC, and has been sacked 24 times, which also is the most in the conference. Alabama, meanwhile, has created 10 turnovers, has recovered seven fumbles on the year, and has sacked opposing quarterbacks 14 times, which are all SEC-best figures. If the Vols want to play from behind again today, they're going to be in trouble against the Tide. Look for Alabama to cover for the second straight time on the road.
