Bet on Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse

Virginia Tech is coming off a 34-3 win at North Carolina last week to improve to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the ACC. The Hokies are 3-2 against the spread, but have covered in three straight. Tech had an impressive showing in the win over UNC, holding the Tar Heels to just 131 total yards. The Hokies are now giving up just 15.6 points and 237.6 yards per game this season on defense. The offense seems to be picking up as of late as well, scoring at least 34 points in three straight games. Tech is now averaging 39 points and 412 yards per game. Jerod Evans has thrown for 1,045 yards and 15 touchdowns to lead the offense while also rushing for 258 yards. Travon McMillian has added 288 rushing yards and three scores.

The Orange are coming off a 28-9 loss at Wake Forest last week. Syracuse is now 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in the ACC while going 2-4 against the spread. The Orange have failed to cover in all four losses this year, as they have had all of their losses come by at least 17 points. Syracuse is giving up 36 points and 475 yards per game on defense this year while the offense is putting up 25.7 points and 466.8 yards per game. Eric Dungey is leading the offense with 1,886 passing yards and 11 touchdowns while Amba Etta-Tawo has caught 51 passes for 876 yards and six scores.

Syracuse has been putting up some impressive offensive numbers, but those are slightly skewed by their two wins. The Hokies have a defense that can cause a lot of problems and should be able to contain the Orange and the Dunger-Tawo connection. The Hokies should be able to pound the rock as well against this Syracuse defense. This could be a 28-7 type win for the Hokies.
