ASU stuns Cal
Arizona State is coming off a 24-17 win at Cal two weeks ago in an upset road victory for the Sun Devils. ASU is now 4-1 on the season, 1-1 in the Pac-12, 2-3 against the spread and 4-1 with the under.
The Sun Devils have a respectable defense that is giving up just 14.4 points and 325.8 yards per game this season. Offensively, ASU has struggled to move the ball consistently. They are averaging just 22.8 points and 376.8 yards per contest. Quarterback Jayden Daniels has thrown for 1,247 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 175 yards and a score. Eno Benjamin has rushed for 392 yards and six touchdowns while Brandon Aiyuk has 24 catches for 455 yards and two touchdowns.
Washington State manhandled by Utah
Washington State is coming off a 38-13 loss at Utah two weeks ago for its second straight loss. The Cougars are 3-2 on the season, 0-2 in the Pac-12, 1-4 against the spread and 3-2 with the under.
The Cougars are one of the top offensive teams in the nation, putting up 44.8 points and 546.8 yards per game this season. They have the nation’s top passing attack with 450 yards per game through the air. Defensively, Washington State is allowing 30.6 points and 444.4 yards per contest. Anthony Gordon is leading the team with 2,146 passing yards and 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has three receivers with over 350 yards. College Football Betting Trends
ASU is 1-5 against the spread in its last six games on grass and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games.
The Cougars are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 against a winning team and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss.
These two haven’t met since 2016, but Washington State has won the last two encounters. However, ASU has covered the spread in four of the last five meetings with the Cougars. Washington State has been exposed the last two games, as their defense hasn’t been able to live up to the hype. However, that may not be an issue today. The Arizona State offense is really weak and not a unit that can produce a lot of consistent offense. ASU has to win with defense, which is has been able to do. However, the Sun Devils also haven’t faced much in terms of good offensive teams. They will today. The Cougars will challenge them in a way they haven’t yet and I think it’s going to be a problem for ASU. I just think this is a bad matchup for Arizona State.
