West Virginia Mountaineers Game Notes
West Virginia redshirt junior QB Jarret Doege completed 25-of-33 passes for 318 yards and a touchdown in WVU's 23-20 loss to Texas Tech. Doege (6'2"/208) had a poor first quarter that saw him benched for fellow QB Garrett Greene, but it was Doege who took back the reins in the second half and played very well, almost leading WVU to a dramatic comeback win. After getting nothing going through the air in the first half, Doege settled in and the downhill passing attack started working. Doege fit a number of balls into tight windows, including a 55 yard completion right over the safety and corner to Isaiah Esdale and then found Esdale again for the touchdown who took a shot right as he caught it. Unfortunately, it was too little too late, and the Mountaineers were unable to get the win. Doege will hope to keep his second half form going against Baylor next Saturday.
Baylor Bears Game Notes
Baylor QB Gerry Bohanon completed 13-of-27 passes for 177 yards, and 13 yards on nine carries with a touchdown in Saturday's 24-14 loss to Oklahoma State. The dual-threat QB did not throw for a touchdown for the first time this season. Although the game summary shows this game was tight, OSU was in control, especially on defense, forcing Baylor to punt on its first eight possessions. Bohanon (6'3/221) gave the Bears some life when he scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak to cut the Oklahoma State lead to 17-14 early in the fourth quarter. Baylor will host West Virginia next Saturday.
