Orange seek conference win
Syracuse has been up-and-down this season, but the Orange have won their last two games to get to 3-2 on the season. Cuse is 0-1 in the ACC with a 41-6 loss to Clemson. They are also 2-3 against the spread while going 3-2 with the under.
Cuse hasn’t had much to hang its hat on this year, as the Orange are putting up just 28.6 points and 385.8 yards per game on offense while giving up 28 points and 438.2 yards per game on defense. Quarterback Tommy DeVito is leading the offense with 1,234 passing yards and 11 touchdowns, but also has five interceptions and has been sacked 18 times. Trishton Jackson has been his top target with 24 catches for 393 yards and five touchdowns while Moe Neal is the leading rusher with 317 yards and three scores. Defensively, Lakiem Williams has 39 tackles and 3.5 sacks to lead the unit.
N.C. State drops conference opener
N.C. State is coming off a 31-13 loss at Florida State on Sept. 28 in the ACC opener. The Wolfpack are 3-2 on the season, 1-4 against the spread and 4-1 with the over/under total.
The Wolfpack have been pretty competitive on both sides of the ball. Their defense is giving up 20.8 points and 321.2 yards per game. Their run defense ranks sixth nationally, allowing just 71.8 yards per game. Offensively, N.C. State is putting up 29.8 points and 434.6 yards per contest. Matthew McKay was starting at QB and has thrown for 910 yards and three touchdowns, but the Wolfpack switched to Bailey Hockman in their last game, only to see him suffer a knee injury. Hockman is questionable for Thursday’s game. N.C. State will rely on the run game, as three backs have over 200 yards this year. Zonovan Knight is the leading rusher with 293 yards and three scores. Emeka Emezie is the leading receiver with 28 catches for 281 yards and a score while Larrell Murchison is leading the defense with 21 tackles and five sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Syracuse
The Orange are 5-2 with the over in their last seven conference games, but 5-1 with the under in their last six games on grass.
N.C. State
The Wolfpack are 18-1-1 with the under in their last 20 Thursday games and 17-5 with the under in their last 22 conference games.
Prediction:
The home team has won three of the last four meetings and the two have hit the under in five of their last seven meetings. I expect a physical game on Thursday night. N.C. State is beat up on offense and will need its defense to step up in order to win this game. Syracuse isn’t very dynamic on offense and going to look to keep it pretty simple. Don’t expect many big plays in this one. N.C. State’s trends are with the under so strongly for a reason.
College Football Week 7 Prediction: Syracuse/N.C. State Under 58
