Nebraska Cornhuskers Game Notes
Casey Thompson completed 18 of his 27 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns to one interception during Saturday’s 35-21 win over Indiana. He also added one rushing touchdown while netting a 32-yard loss over six carries. Thompson averaged a season-high 10.0 yards per attempt against the Hoosiers’ leaky defense, which ranks last in the Big Ten at 277.8 passing yards per game allowed through five weeks. The Texas transfer also notched his fifth rushing touchdown of the season to cap off the Huskers’ final scoring drive of the game midway through the fourth quarter. Thompson has totaled 12 touchdowns to five turnovers this season, and he has also completed at least two-thirds of his passing attempts in all but one of five starts. The junior will face a much more steady pass defense during next week’s road matchup at Rutgers.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Game Notes
Aron Cruickshank caught all but one of his eight targets for 55 yards and one touchdown during Saturday’s 27-10 loss to Iowa. Cruickshank recorded a season-high seven receptions in quarterback Evan Simon’s (28-of-49 passing, 300 yards, 1:2 TD:INT ratio) most prolific passing performance of the 2022 campaign. The senior also notched the Scarlet Knights’ lone receiving score, as he hauled in an 18-yard catch while falling back into the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Cruickshank has recorded team-highs in receptions (18), yards (156) and receiving touchdowns (two) over the first four weeks of the season, though he could be poised for more split receiving duties while playing alongside wideout Shameen Jones (five receptions, seven targets, 71 yards) and tight end Johnny Langan (four receptions, 10 targets, 48 yards) moving forward throughout Big Ten play.

Cornhuskers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall
Nebraska vs. Rutgers Betting Prediction
Both of these teams stink, so I don’t trust either side. The total, however, holds some value. The under is 4-1 in the Cornhuskers’ last five road games versus a team with a winning home record and is 8-3-1 in their last 12 road games. On the other side, the under is 8-2 in the Scarlet Knights’ last 10 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game, is 8-3 in their last 11 games versus a team with a losing record and is 5-2 in their last seven games following a loss.
