Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Aggies are 5.5-point favorites to beat the Wildcats. The total, meanwhile, sits at 49 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Wildcats.
Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky redshirt sophomore QB Terry Wilson completed 13-of-20 passes for 132 yards and added 59 yards and a touchdown on the ground in Saturday’s 24-10 win over South Carolina. Wilson (6’3/205) and Benny Snell’s ability to run the ball have led the Wildcats to a 5-0 start including three SEC wins. The dual-threat quarterback has more rushing touchdowns (2) than interceptions (1) in the last three games. That’s exactly what Wilson needs to do for Kentucky to continue their breakout season under Mark Stoops. The Wildcats get a chance to keep things rolling against Texas A&M on the road next week.
Texas A&M Aggies
Texas A&M sophomore QB Kellen Mond completed 17-of-25 passes for 201 yards, no touchdown and two interceptions in Saturday’s 24-17 win against Arkansas. Mond was off from the start, perhaps a credit to Arkansas’ pass defense. Luckily for the Aggies, Arkansas can’t do anything outside of play a little defense, so A&M reverted to the running game and deflating the ball. Mond has a tough matchup next time out against Kentucky’s improved defense.
Betting Trends
Kentucky
The Wildcats are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games when facing a team with a winning record.
Texas A&M
The Aggies are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games overall.
Prediction
This Kentucky team is no fluke. The Wildcats play sound defense, that have an outstanding running back in Benny Snell, and they’ve already won big conference games against Florida and Mississippi State. This is arguably their biggest test of the season but I think they hang. I’ll take the points.
College Football Prediction: Kentucky Wildcats +5.5
