Buckeyes get scare
Ohio State overcame a double-digit deficit on the road last week at Penn State, picking up a 27-26 victory. The Buckeyes are now 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Big Ten. OSU is 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the under. They have covered in five of their last seven overall.
The Buckeyes are putting up 49 points and 557 yards per game on offense this season. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins is off to a great start. He has thrown for 1,464 yards and 19 touchdowns with just two interceptions. J.K Dobbins and Mike Weber are a formidable tandem on the ground. They have combined for 730 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Parris Campbell is the leading receiver with 26 catches for 359 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Ohio State is giving up 18.8 points and 357 yards per game. Their pass defense is allowing just 202 yards per game.
Indiana split first two Big Ten games
The Indiana Hoosiers improved to 4-1 on the season last week with a 24-17 win at Rutgers. The Hoosiers are 1-1 in Big Ten play, 1-4 against the spread and 3-2 with the under. Indiana has covered in just two of its last 10 as a program.
IU is has actually been pretty respectable on defense, allowing just 21.2 points and 321.8 yards per game. Their pass defense is holding opponents to 163.6 yards per game. Offensively, Indiana is putting up 28.2 points and 412.2 yards per game. Stevie Scott has been leading the offense with 464 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Peyton Ramsey has thrown for 1,039 yards and eight touchdowns. Ramsey has also run for 170 yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Ohio State
Ohio State has covered the spread in four straight home games and five of its last six games on fieldturf.
Indiana
Indiana has failed to cover the spread in seven straight road games and is just 3-14-1 ATS in its last 18 conference games.
Prediction:
Indiana has actually been a tougher opponent for Ohio State than many would expect. The Hoosiers have covered the spread in six of the last seven against the Buckeyes, including four straight in Columbus. Despite all of that, I just can’t go with Indiana. The Hoosiers gave up a lot of points at home to an average Michigan State offense. I don’t see them stopping Ohio State much. The Buckeyes have a defense capable of shutting down the Hoosiers as well. I expect Ohio State to return to blowing out opponents.
