Notre Dame vs. N.C. State Pick
Will the Notre Dame defense show any improvement this week when it takes on N.C. State on Saturday at Noon ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, N.C. State is favored at home in this game, as the Wolfpack are getting odds of -2 points against the Fighting Irish. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 63.5 points. These two haven’t met since the 2003 season when N.C. State picked up a 28-6 victory. These two hit the under of 42 points.
The Irish finally got back on track last week in regards to winning, beating Syracuse 50-33. The Irish are 2-3 on the year while hitting the over in four of their five games. The defense continues to be an issue, allowing 33.4 points and 461 yards per game. However, the offense has managed to outshine the defense on a few occasions. The Irish are averaging 39.8 points and 495.4 yards per game on offense, led by Deshone Kizer, who has thrown for 1,567 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 187 yards and six scores. Equanimeous St. Brown has been the go-to target for Kizer, catching 25 passes for 541 yards and six touchdowns.
N.C. State is coming off a 33-16 win over Wake Forest last week. The Wolfpack are now 3-1 on the season and 3-0-1 with the over in 2016. N.C. State is usually known for offense, which has been great this year, but the defense has been vastly improved this year. They are allowing just 21.3 points and 321.5 yards per game on defense. The Wolfpack combine that with an offense this year that is putting up 40 points and 505 yards per game. Ryan Finley has thrown for 1,014 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the offense while Matthew Dayes has run for 437 yards and three touchdowns.
N.C. State’s defense has been improved this season, but they are facing an offense this week that hasn’t had a problem moving the ball. However, the Wolfpack won’t have any trouble racking up the yards against the Irish. Notre Dame should really struggle to stop N.C. State.
