Washington on track
Washington had a tough opener, falling to Auburn 21-16. Since then, the Huskies have won three straight, including a 27-20 win over Arizona State last week. Washington is just 1-3 against the spread while hitting the under in all four games as well. The Huskies are only 2-6 against the spread in their last eight overall.
As a Pac-12 team, Washington is usually known for offense but the Huskies have been stellar on defense. They are giving up just 12.8 points and 302.8 yards per game this season. Their pass defense is holding opponents to 154 yards per game. On offense, Washington is averaging 27.3 points and 432.5 yards per game. Quarterback Jake Browning has thrown for 966 yards and seven touchdowns this year with four interceptions. Myles Gaskin has 357 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground while Aaron Fuller has caught 22 passes for 367 yards and a score.
BYU seeks another upset
The BYU Cougars are off to a 3-1 start following an upset win at Wisconsin two weeks ago and a lopsided win over McNeese State last week. BYU is 3-1 against the spread while hitting the under in all four contests. Dating back to last season, the Cougars have covered the spread in seven of their last nine games.
BYU has continued its tradition of being physical at the line of scrimmage. The Cougars are holding opponents to just 17 points and 328.3 yards per game this year. Offensively. BYU hasn’t been overwhelming, averaging just 25 points and 320.3 yards per game. Squally Canada has been leading BYU on offense with 322 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Tanner Mangum has thrown for 612 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Washington
The Huskies are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven against Independent teams and 0-4 ATS in their last four non-conference games.
BYU
BYU is 7-1 against the spread in its last eight non-conference games and the Cougars have covered in five straight road games.
Prediction:
This game should be a grind. Washington has a legit defense that has contained better offenses than what BYU has to offer and the Cougars will be ready to be physical with the Washington offense. I think the spread is a little too big for the Huskies. Washington hasn’t been stellar on offense and BYU has already proven it can contain the speed of Pac-12 teams.
