Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, Utah is favored at home, as the Utes are getting odds of -5 points against Washington State. The over/under total for the game is listed at 56.5 points. The public betting currently has 60 percent going on Washington State as the road underdog. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Utes suffer first loss

The Utah Utes suffered their first loss of the season last week as well, getting beaten by USC on the road, 30-23. USC is 3-1 on the year, 0-1 in the Pac-12, 1-3 against the spread and 3-1 with the under.

Utah has a strong defense, as the Utes are giving up just 14.8 points and 274.8 yards per game. Offensively, Utah is putting up 29.8 points and 443.8 yards per contest. The Utes are expected to be without leading rusher Zack Moss due to a separated shoulder. He has 393 yards and four touchdowns this season. Tyler Huntley has thrown for 812 yards and five touchdowns. Bryan Thompson is his leading receiver with seven catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns. The defense is led by Bradlee Anae, who has four sacks.

Cougars blow huge lead

Washington State blew a 49-17 lead against UCLA at home last weekend in a 67-63 loss to fall to 3-1 on the year and 0-1 in the Pac-12. The Cougars are 1-3 against the spread this season while going 2-2 with the over/under total.

The Cougars are putting up 52.8 points and 605.3 yards per game on offense this year, including nearly 500 passing yards per game. The Washington State defense is giving up 28.8 points and 424 yards per contest. Anthony Gordon is leading the team with 1,894 passing yards and 21 touchdowns while five different receivers have 225 yards or more. Easop Winston Jr. has 26 catches for 348 yards and eight touchdowns. Max Borghi is the leading rusher with 325 yards and four scores.

College Football Betting Trends

Utah

The Utes are 0-6 ATS in their last six against a winning team, but 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss.

Washington State

The Cougars are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 conference games.

Prediction:

The Cougars have been a problem for Utah over the years, covering the spread and winning four straight meetings. The Utes haven’t been able to overcome the Washington State offense. Both teams come into this game having suffered a bad loss and I think it could linger for the Utes. They lost their leading rusher and the focal point of their offense. Washington State can move the ball on almost any defense, so I still expect the Cougars to score. Chasing teams offensively is not a way for Utah to win football games.
