Ducks give away game
Oregon had a win locked up against Stanford last week but managed to give it away with turnovers. The Ducks fell to 3-1 on the season and 0-4 against the spread. They have split the over/under total through four games.
The Ducks are strong on offense, as usual. They are putting up 46.5 points and 508.3 yards per game thus far. Justin Herbert has thrown for 1,18 6 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions. On the ground, the Ducks have a steady attack as well, led by CJ Verdell and his 314 yards with two scores. Defensively, Oregon is giving up 24.5 points and 326.8 yards per game. Their run defense is holding opponents to 75.5 yards per game.
Cal off to 3-0 start
The Golden Bears have gotten off to a 3-0 start to the season thanks to wins over North Carolina, BYU and Idaho State. Cal is 1-1-1 against the spread through the three games while hitting the under in two of three. The Bears have hit the under in four of their last five dating back to last season.
Cal has had a pretty impressive defense thus far in 2018. The Bears are giving up just 19.3 points and 302.3 yards per game. On offense, California is putting up 30.0 points and 382.3 yards per game. The team used a number of QB’s early, but have settled on Chase Garbers. He has thrown for 449 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions. Garbers is also one of three players with over 120 rushing yards for Cal.
College Football Betting Trends
Oregon
The Ducks are 18-7-1 with the under in their last 26 road games and 6-0 with the under in their last six road games against a team with a winning home record.
Cal
The Golden Bears are 5-2 with the under in their last seven games in September and 7-3 with the under in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings and I think the total is being set a little low for this game. While the Bears have looked good defensively thus far, they haven’t faced very good offensive teams. Oregon is going to come out looking to make a statement after last week’s debacle so I expect the Ducks to score early and often. The Oregon defense isn’t strong enough to completely dominate, so Cal should find some response scores along the way to allow the over to hit.
