Ohio State dominant

Ohio State is off to a 4-0 start with largely dominant performances in all four games. The Buckeyes are 3-1 against the spread thus far and 2-2 with the over/under total. As a program. OSU has hit the under in four of its last six games.

The run game is being led by the duo of J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber, who have combined for 622 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Ohio State is allowing just 17 points and 323.3 yards per game.

Penn State on a roll as well

Penn State opened the season with a bit of a scare at home against Appalachian State. Since then, the Nittany Lions have won three straight, all by nearly 40 points or more. PSU is 4-0 overall, 3-1 against the spread while hitting the over in all four games. The Nittany Lions have hit the over in their last seven games as a program.

PSU is putting up an impressive 55.5 points and 514.5 yards per game on offense this season. They have a strong rushing attack that is putting up 275 yards per game. Miles Sanders is the leading rusher with 495 yards and five touchdowns while quarterback Trace McSorley has run for 235 yards and six touchdowns. McSorley has also thrown for 763 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, Penn State is giving up 19.5 points and 345.8 yards per game, including just 173.3 passing yards per game.

College Football Betting Trends

Ohio State

Ohio State is 6-1 with the over in its last seven road games in and eight of its last nine following a win of more than 20 points.

Penn State

Penn State has hit the over in its last four home games and its last five games on grass.

These two had a shootout at Ohio State last year, but I think the point total will be toned down this time around at Happy Valley. Each defense is likely the best the opposing offense has faced this season. I can see Penn State having some issues with the Ohio State ground game, but not enough to allow the Buckeyes to score 40 points. Penn State will have some trouble dealing with the speed of the Ohio State defense and I think that leads to these two going under the very high total.
