Kentucky Wildcats Game Notes
Kentucky redshirt senior RB Asim Rose is listed atop the depth chart for Saturday’s game at Auburn. Rose (6’1″/210) led the Kentucky running backs in rushing last year with 149 carries for 826 yards, 5.5 YPC and six touchdowns. The RB position was more of a committee type approach as Kavosiey Smoke and Christopher Rodriguez combined for 172 carries with superior yards per carry numbers. With the two other proven runners behind him, Rose was expected to be challenged for starting duties in fall camp. He performed well enough to be granted sole possession of the starting role with Smoke and Rodriguez listed as his co-backups. We will see how the carry distribution shakes out when Kentucky heads to Auburn for their SEC opener on Saturday.
Auburn Tigers Game Notes
Auburn junior RB Shaun Shivers was listed as the team’s starting RB on the team’s new official depth chart. Shivers’ first two years on campus were spent in a rotational role. Through 2018 and 2019, Shivers earned 125 carries for 657 yards and six touchdowns. Now, with JaTarvious Whitlow out of the picture via transfer, Shivers is stepping into the starting role. At 5-foot-7 and 173-pounds, Shivers is a short, spry ball-carrier is certainly a change of pace from Whitlow. He also has much to prove as a pass-catcher, which will likely determine how much of a true No.1 back he is. D.J. Williams and Tank Bigsby are behind Shivers on the depth chart for now.
Kentucky vs. Auburn Betting Prediction
The under is 7-1 in the Wildcats’ last eight games as a road underdog, is 13-3 in their last 16 conference matchups and is 8-3 in their last 11 road games dating back to last season. Auburn’s not going to allow Kentucky to run up and down the field on its defense and with the way both of these teams like to slow games down with long drives, the under is the best play on the board for this SEC matchup.
