Clemson dominates another
Clemson is coming off a 52-10 win over Charlotte at home last week to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Tigers are 1-0 in the ACC, 3-1 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Tigers have been really impressive on both sides of the ball. The defense is giving up just 10 points and 246.5 yards per game while the offense is putting up 42.3 points and 524.8 yards per outing. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 925 yards and seven touchdowns with five interceptions. Tee Higgins is the leading receiver with 16 catches for 376 yards and two touchdowns, while Travis Etienne is the leading rusher with 395 yards and four scores. The defense is being led by Isaiah Simmons, who has 33 tackles with two sacks.
UNC upset at home
After winning its first two games of the new Mack Brown era, the Tar Heels have since lost their last two games, including a 34-31 loss to Appalachian State at home last weekend. UNC is now 2-2 on the year, 1-0 in the ACC, 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
North Carolina is giving up 25.8 points and 394.8 yards per game on defense this year while the offense is putting up 25.3 points and 418.5 yards per contest. Sam Howell is leading the team with 1,024 passing yards and nine touchdowns while Javonte Williams is leading the ground attack with 299 yards and a score. Dyami Brown is the leading receiver with 15 catches for 284 yards and three touchdowns. Myles Wolfork is leading the defense with 24 tackles and three interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Clemson
The Tigers have covered the spread in seven straight road games and in eight of their last nine conference contests.
North Carolina
UNC is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games in September.
Prediction:
Clemson has won and covered in three straight meetings against UNC and I would expect another cover this weekend. After starting a touch slow, Lawrence has gotten back to form and is avoiding turnovers. The Clemson defense is going to hold UNC in check, as they haven’t given up more than 14 points in a game yet. The Heels have already struggled to slow down teams like Miami and App State, so Clemson is sure to put up a lot of points in this game.
College Football Week 5 Prediction: Clemson -26.5
