Wisconsin Badgers Game Notes

Graham Mertz completed 12 of his 15 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns to one interception during Saturday's 66-7 win versus New Mexico State. Mertz registered one of the best passing performances with career-highs in passing yards and yards per attempt (16.7) Saturday, albeit while facing one of the very worst defenses in the FBS. The junior also threw for three or more touchdowns for just the third time in his career, including back-to-back 49-yard and 18-yard passing scores to wide receiver Skyler Bell (four receptions, four targets, 108 yards) in the third quarter. Mertz will have to face an altogether different test when the Badgers travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State this coming Saturday.

Ohio State Buckeyes Game Notes

C.J. Stroud completed 22 of his 27 passes for 367 yards and five touchdowns during Saturday's 77-21 win over Toledo. He also added nine rushing yards on two carries. Stroud has the Buckeyes offense - which currently ranks atop the nation in total offense at 565.3 yards per game - looking like a well-oiled passing machine again. The Heisman hopeful registered his most productive performance of the season Saturday, and has now completed 72.9 percent of his passes for 11 touchdowns to zero interceptions. However, Stroud will face tougher competition when Ohio State welcomes the Badgers to Columbus this coming Saturday night.
