Texas Longhorns Game Notes
Bijan Robinson rushed for 183 yards and a three touchdowns on 20 carries while also catching a 19-yard pass on his only target in Saturday’s 41-20 win over UTSA. Robinson couldn’t be tackled by UTSA as he broke off a number of big runs and showed that he truly is one of the best running backs in the nation. With back-up quarterback, Hudson Card, hobbled by an ankle injury for most of the week, it was clear that Texas was going to lean on their workhorse and it certainly worked. Look for Robinson to have a huge conference season which starts next week at Texas Tech.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Game Notes
Donovan Smith completed 21 of 36 passes for 214 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions to go along with a rushing score in Saturday’s 27-14 loss at NC State. Smith had all kinds of trouble against a stingy Wolfpack defense that completely shut down the Red Raiders’ rushing game. After opening the season with four touchdown passes, Smith has went a different direction with just three touchdown passes and five interceptions in his two starts. When Tyler Shough does come back from the collarbone injury, it’s not out of the question that he’ll get the starting job back. Stay tuned to see who the starting quarterback ends up being against Texas next week.
