Wake Forest Demon Deacons Game Notes
Wake Forest redshirt sophomore QB Sam Hartman completed 22-of-31 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-14 win over Florida State on Saturday. Hartman (6’1/208) put forth another solid outing, as Wake Forest steamrolled a reeling FSU team that cannot seem to put a complete game together. In addition to completing 71 percent of his throws, Hartman also helped the Demon Deacons control the ball for 39:13 seconds of game time, smothering a Florida State team that converted just one third-down opportunity all game long. That is not a recipe for success at any level. His best throw came on a go route to A.T. Perry down the right sideline for a 65-yard touchdown as Wake opened up a commanding lead in the third quarter and never looked back. Hartman faces his toughest test of the season next Friday when Wake travels to play Virginia on Friday night.
Virginia Cavaliers Game Notes
In an entertaining shootout, Virginia redshirt sophomore QB Brennan Armstrong completed 39-of-54 passes for 554 yards and four touchdowns in tough loss to UNC. Armstrong (6’2/215) had a fantastic day in Chapel Hill, leading his team to 574 total yards. After taking a four-point lead into halftime, Armstrong got outdueled by opposing QB Sam Howell in one of the most entertaining games you will see this season. The most impressive thing for Armstrong: he averaged 10.1 YPA on 54 attempts. The Cavaliers look to rebound on Friday night against Wake Forest.
