Louisville vs. Marshall Prediction
Will Louisville avoid a letdown tonight when the Cardinals visit Marshall at 8:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cardinals are now 28.5-point favorites after opening as a 24-point favorite versus the Thundering Herd. As for the total, the number opened at 74.5 and hasn't moved off that spot.
The Cardinals have covered in five straight games overall and are 28-11 against the number in their last 39 road games as well. They're also 5-0 against the spread in their last five games played in the month of September, are 4-0 ATS in their last four non-conference games and have covered in 16 of their last 21 games versus Conference USA opponents.
The Thundering Herd, meanwhile, are 16-6 against the spread in their last 22 home games and are 14-5 at the betting window in their last 19 non-conference games. They've also covered in four straight games when coming off a failed cover in their previous game and are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games playing in the month of September.
OUR PREDICTION: This is a tough spot for the Cardinals. They just blew out Florida State at home in an emotional game against an opponent that has had their number of late. Next week they clash with Clemson in a game for supremacy in the ACC; how difficult will it be for Louisville not to get caught looking ahead? While it's hard to bet against Lamar Jackson and this juggernaut of an offense, look for the Cardinals to suffer a letdown tonight against a Thundering Herd squad that will be jacked up to pull off the upset. (It's not as if Marshall is a blood donor, either. The Herd rank fifth in the nation in passing yards, sixth in scoring and 12th in total yards per game.)
