PITTSBURGH: The Panthers are off to a 2-1 start straight up but they have yet to cover a point spread in three tries. They beat Villanova 28-7 in their opener but failed to cover as a 28-point favorite. Then they topped Penn State 42-39, but just barely missed covering as a 3.5-point favorite. Last week, they went back-and-forth with Oklahoma State before a lighting delay killed their momentum as they fell 45-38 as a 2.5-point underdog.
NORTH CAROLINA: The Tar Heels are off to a 2-1 start as well but unlike the Panthers, North Carolina has covered in back-to-back games to get to 2-1 against the spread as well. After losing 33-24 as a 3.5-point underdog to Georgia in their opener, the Tar Heels beat Illinois 48-23 as a 7-point road favorite and then crushed FCS foe James Madison 56-28 as a 24.5-point favorite last weekend.

OUR PICK: Looking for a fun game to take the over? This is it. The over is 5-2 in the Panthers’ last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record and is 9-3 in their last 12 games versus a team with a winning record period. On the other side, the over is 5-1 in the Tar Heels’ lat six games overall, is 4-1 in their last five conference games, and is a perfect 7-0 in their last seven games versus a team with a winning record. With the way these two teams have played defense at times this season, both squads should reach the 30s on Saturday.
