Washington vs. ASU Spread Prediction

Washington Huskies vs. Arizona State Sun Devils, 9/22/18 Week 4 Predictions

A year ago this October, Arizona State upset Washington and essentially squashed the Huskies’ hopes to go to the College Football Playoff. Will the Huskies not only get their revenge on the Sun Devils on Saturday night but also cover the spread for bettors?

Game Snapshot

409 Arizona State Sun Devils at 410 Washington Huskies

Husky Stadium, Seattle, Washington

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Huskies are 17.5-point favorites to beat the Sun Devils. The total, meanwhile, sits at 56 points. As of this writing, 58% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Sun Devils.

Arizona State Sun Devils

Arizona State senior QB Manny Wilkins completed 31-of-46 passes for 341 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday's 28-21 loss at San Diego State and he added a rushing score. Wilkins nearly engineered an impressive comeback in the final moments, but instant replay took away a long pass down to the 1-yard line with :06 remaining. Instead, a long desperation heave at the buzzer was batted down and Herm Edwards and his Sun Devils suffered their first loss of the 2018 campaign. It was his second consecutive 300-yard passing performance after going for 380 yards last week against Michigan State. He'll try to make it three in a row in the Pac-12 opener at Washington next week.

Washington Huskies

Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed just 14-of-24 passes for 155 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Saturday's 21-7 win at Utah. Browning didn't have the best game, but partner in crime RB Myles Gaskin picked him up with a good performance on the ground. The senior signal caller also made a terrible decision late in the game to force a pass which was picked off by Utah's Pita Tonga. It should have been a pick-six, but Tonga lost the handle at the Washington 11-yard line, and Browning was fortunate that Utah's offense bogged down and came up with nothing. Browning will look for better results against Arizona State next Saturday.

‘Betting Trends

Arizona State

The Sun Devils are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine conference games and are 9-4 against the number in their last 13 games overall.

Washington

The Huskies are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 conference games but are just 2-5 against the number in their last seven games overall.

Prediction

The Huskies will avenge their loss to the Sun Devils tonight but I don’t like laying this big number. The Sun Devils are a perfect 8-0 against the spread in their last eight games in Seattle and are 15-2-2 against the number in their last 19 games versus the Huskies overall. I see this game being low-scoring and with that, I’ll take the points with the underdog.
