Oklahoma 3-0 again
Oklahoma is off to a 3-0 start following a 37-27 win at Iowa State last week. The Sooners are just 1-2 against the spread, but have hit the over in three straight games. Oklahoma is 1-3 against the spread in its last four games, dating back to last year’s playoffs.
The Sooners are rolling on offense, averaging 49.7 points and 551.3 yards per game this year. The team has been led by new quarterback Kyler Murray, who has thrown for 863 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 169 yards and two scores. Receiver Marquise Brown has caught 19 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Oklahoma is giving up just 20.7 points and 384.7 yards per game.
Army heating up
The Army Golden Knights are off to a 2-1 start to the season following back-to-back wins over Liberty and Hawaii. Their lone loss came at Duke, 34-14. Army is 1-1-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the under. The Golden Knights are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games, dating back to last season.
The Knights are allowing 23 points and 386.7 yards per game on defense this year. Their pass defense has struggled, allowing 275 yards per game. On offense, Army is averaging 26.7 points and 446.7 yards per game. Their rushing attack is one of the best in the country, averaging 306.7 yards per game. Quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr. has thrown for 420 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 206 yards and three scores. Four other players have over 100 rushing yards.
College Football Betting Trends
Oklahoma is 12-2 against the spread in its last 14 against winning teams and 12-3 ATS in its last 15 home games.
Army is 4-1 against the spread in its last five against Big 12 opponents and 9-4-1 ATS in its last 14 games in September.
Army struggled with Duke, allowing 34 points to an average Blue Devil offense. Oklahoma should have no problem scoring points against the Golden Knights. The Sooners have far too much speed for Army to slow them down. The Knights probably won’t have a ton of success on offense either. Oklahoma has enough defensive capability to contain that run game.
