Miami wins two straight
After losing to LSU 33-17 to open the season, the Hurricanes have looked good the last two weeks by picking up a 77-0 win over Savannah State and a 49-24 win at Toledo. Miami is 2-1 against the spread as well while hitting the over in all three games. Their two covers ended a 5-game failed cover streak dating back to last season.
The Hurricanes have been pretty sound on defense this year, allowing just 19 points and 236 yards per game. That includes just 99.3 rushing yards per contest. Offensively, Miami is putting up 47.7 points and 436.3 yards per contest. Quarterback Malik Rosier has thrown for 595 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for five scores. DeeJay Dallas is the leading rusher for Miami with 196 yards. As a team, the Canes are putting up nearly 200 yards per game on the ground. Jeff Thomas has caught 11 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns to lead the receivers.
FIU comes in with momentum
Florida International has picked up back-to-back wins after suffering a 38-28 loss to Indiana to open the season. The Golden Panthers are 3-0 against the spread while going 2-1 with the over this year. They have covered the spread in five of their last six games as a program.
FIU is having a strong year on offense, averaging 39.7 points and 450.7 yards per game this season, including 230 rushing yards per game. Defensively, the Panthers are giving up 27.3 points and 428 yards per contest. James Morgan has thrown for 548 yards and six touchdowns to lead the offense while Shawndarrius Phillips is leading the backfield with 249 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Miami
Miami is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games following a cover. They are also 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points.
Florida International
FIU is just 1-5 against the spread in their last six against ACC opponents and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a win of more than 20 points.
Prediction:
This is a tough call as Miami has the potential for a letdown as we have seen, but I believe the Hurricanes have the better talent that should be able to run over FIU. FIU has some athletes as well, but I don’t see the Golden Panthers being able to combat the Miami speed consistently. If the Hurricanes can find enough offense, they should be able to cover this spread with some breathing room.
College Football Prediction: Miami -26.5
