Indiana unbeaten to start the year
Indiana is off to a 3-0 start with wins over FIU, Virginia and Ball State. The Hoosiers are just 1-2 against the spread while hitting the under in two of three games. The Hoosiers have hit the under in four of their last six outings.
IU hasn’t usually been known for good defense, but the Hoosiers are giving up just 18 points and 322.7 yards per game this season. Their pass defense is allowing just 135 yards per game. On offense, Indiana is averaging 32 points and 436.3 yards per game. Steve Scott is leading the offense with 388 rushing yards and three touchdowns while quarterback Peyton Ramsey has thrown for 479 yards and five touchdowns.
MSU coming off a bye week
Michigan State had a bye last week and suffered a 16-13 loss at Arizona State the week prior. MSU is 1-1 on the season with an 0-2 mark against the spread and a 1-1 mark with the total. The Spartans have hit the over in three of their last four games.
Through two games, MSU is putting up 25.5 points and 414.5 yards per game while the defense is giving up 23.5 points and 384 yards per contest. Their run defense is giving up just 34.5 yards per game. Brian Lewerke is leading the team with 601 passing yards and three touchdowns while LJ Scott is the leading rusher with 103 yards. Scott is dealing with a hamstring injury, but expected to play on Saturday. Cody White has caught 14 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Indiana
Indiana has hit the under in four of its last five games on fieldturf, but 13-3 with the over in their last 16 games following a win of more than 20 points.
Michigan State
Michigan State has hit the under in five of its last six games in September and seven of its last 10 games on fieldturf.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in their last two meetings. The total is being set pretty low for this game even though you might expect a lot of offense from an Indiana team. Michigan State really struggled on offense at Arizona State and hasn’t been able to run the ball very well. Indiana hasn’t faced a defense as strong as what MSU usually has, so I can see the Hoosiers struggling to score as well.
