MISSISSIPPI STATE: The Bulldogs are now 1-2 on the year after their comeback fell short last Saturday night at LSU. They were upset 21-20 by South Alabama as a 27.5-point favorite in Week 1, beat South Carolina 27-14 as a 7.5-point favorite in Week 2, then covered again as a 13-point underdog in a 23-20 loss to LSU last weekend. Damian Williams came off the bench to throw for 94 yards and a touchdown on 5-of-8 passing. He replaced the ineffective Nick Fitzgerald, who threw for 120 yards on 12-of-24 pass attempts.
UMASS: The Minutemen were beaten 24-7 by Florida in Week 1, then were routed 26-7 by Boston College in Week 2 before beating Florida International 21-13 last weekend as a 1-point underdog. Quarterback Andrew Ford completed 28-of-42 pass attempts for 278 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the win.

OUR PICK: The under cashed in all three of Mississippi State’s games and in all three of UMass’ games as well. The Minutemen have one of the worst offenses in the nation, ranking 128th in total yards, 100th in passing yards, 127th in rushing yards and 128th in points scored. They’re averaging 11.7 points per game and haven’t played anyone yet but Florida in Week 1. UMass will have difficulty moving the ball on Saturday versus Mississippi State and won’t contribute enough points to push the score over.
