Penn St. vs. Michigan Pick
No. 4 Michigan is set to begin Big Ten play on Saturday when it hosts Penn State at 3:30PM ET on ABC. Can the Wolverines continue to roll?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Michigan is the clear favorite at home, as the Wolverines are getting odds of -18.5 points against Penn State. The over/under total for the game is listed at 60 points. Michigan has won its last two meetings with Penn State, covering the spread in both contests.
Bet on Penn State vs. Michigan
Michigan is off to a 3-0 start following a 45-28 win over Colorado. The Wolverines are 2-1 against the spread, failing to cover the 17.5-point spread against the Buffaloes last week. In last week’s win, the Wolverines found themselves down 21-7 after one quarter before rallying back for the win. Michigan still held Colorado to 325 yards in the game. The Wolverines are giving up only 296 yards per game defensively while putting up 452 yards on offense. Wilton Speight has been steady at quarterback. He has thrown for 686 yards and eight touchdowns for the season. He is listed as questionable for the game with a shoulder injury.
Penn State is coming off a 34-27 win at home over Temple. The Nittany Lions are now 2-1 on the season and 2-0-1 against the spread. Penn State hasn’t been quite its usual self on defense, giving up 27.3 points and 345 yards per game for 2016. Offensively, Penn State is averaging 387.7 yards per game. Trace McSorley has thrown for 828 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense while Saquon Barkley has run for 258 yards and six touchdowns. Barkley is battling an ankle injury, but is probable to play.

Penn State doesn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up with Michigan in this game. The Wolverines have the defense that should be able to limit what Barkley can do and force McSorley to have to beat them, which I don’t think he can. With this game at Michigan, I expect the Wolverines to score consistently and get enough stops to win by at least 20 points. If not for a slow start last week, Michigan would have covered against Colorado.
