Arizona State Sun Devils
Arizona State sophomore RB Trelon Smith has gotten some first-team reps in practices this week. This is an interesting development. Smith missed the first two games of the season on suspension and didn't get a touch in his first game back last week against San Diego State. However, Eno Benjamin's struggles the past two weeks (48 yards total on 1.8 yards per carry) may have opened the door for Smith to at least siphon off some touches this week against Washington. Keep an eye on this situation.
NFL Draft Scout's Rob Rang believes Washington senior RB Myles Gaskin improved his draft stock with his performance on Saturday against Utah. After a so-so start to the season in the first two weeks, Gaskin was back to what we've been accustomed to, running for 143 yards and a score in the 21-7 victory over Utah. As Rang puts it: "Scouts are going to question Gaskin at every turn because he does not possess a prototypical frame but his durability and instinctive, attentive running certainly are NFL-caliber." It wouldn't be surprising if Gaskin was a middle-round pick despite the lack of size (5'10/193).
The over is 5-2 in the Sun Devils’ last seven road games and 7-2 in their last nine games overall.
The under is 5-0 in the Huskies’ last five games played in September and is 9-4-1 in their last 14 conference games.
Washington has revenge on its mind after Arizona State handed the Huskies a 13-7 loss last October and poured cold water on their hopes of returning to the College Football playoff. Herm Edwards’ squad isn’t going to sneak up on this Washington team, especially not after the Sun Devils upset Michigan State two weeks ago. I expect the Huskies to be on point, specifically on defense, and this game will stay under the betting total.
