Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa went 22-for-27 passing for 274 yards and three touchdowns in 62-0 win over Howard. In a game that was never expected to be close, Taulia Tagovailoa (5’11/205) had yet another strong performance in a blow out win over Howard University. Through two games, Tagovailoa is 48-for-63 passing for 606 yards and six touchdowns. Now sitting at 2-0, the Terps will head to Illinois next Friday night for a matchup against the Illini (1-2).
Illinois Fighting Illini Game Notes
Redshirt senior QB Brandon Peters (shoulder) will return as the starter for Illinois in Week 3 against Maryland. Brandon Peters (6’5/220) entered 2021 as the starter in Illinois’ first game against Nebraska, before exiting with an injury (left shoulder) in the team’s upset win. He spent the next two weeks as an emergency starter for the Illini, but is now back in the saddle for Week 3, replacing quarterback Art Sitkowski who had gone 46-for-87 passing for 487 yards, and four touchdowns with just one interception in his two starts for Illinois.
