FIU grabs first win
After losing its first two games of the year to Tulane and Western Kentucky, FIU was able to get its first win last weekend, 30-17 over New Hampshire. The Panthers have failed to cover the spread in all three games while going 2-1 with the under.
Florida International has struggled to find much offense so far this season. The Panthers are putting up 19.3 points and 307 yards per game. They are pretty weak with the passing game, averaging just 133 yards per game. Defensively, FIU is giving up 26.3 points and 418 yards per game, including nearly 200 rushing yards per contest. Quarterback James Morgan has been leading the team with 233 passing yards, but he has an ankle injury that has him questionable to play this Friday. Kaylan Wiggins has thrown for 168 yards in his place. Wiggins also has 212 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Tech seeks third straight victory
Louisiana Tech is off to a 2-1 start to the season after back-to-back wins over Grambling and Bowling Green. The Bulldogs opened their season with a loss at Texas. They are 1-2 against the spread on the year while going 2-1 with the under.
Tech has been winning largely with defense, allowing just 22 points and 399.7 yards per game. The Bulldogs are putting up 23 points and 418.7 yards per contest. Quarterback J’Mar Smith has thrown or 818 yards and five touchdowns to lead this team in 2019. The Bulldogs have four receivers with over 115 yards. Griffin Hebert has 10 catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Henderson is the leading rusher with 136 yards and a score. Amik Robertson is leading the defense with 19 tackles four pass deflections and an interception.
College Football Betting Trends
Florida International
FIU has hit the over in five of its last six conference games and in four straight following a win.
Louisiana Tech
The Bulldogs have hit the under in five straight against a losing team and in eight of their last nine games overall.
Prediction:
These two hit the over in their last meetings, but had hit the under in the two meetings prior to that. FIU has shown nothing on offense to make me believe it will go on the road and have much success against Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs are a little more balanced on both sides of the ball and I think they will keep things pretty tame on offense. They have a good passing attack, but they only put up 20 on Grambling, so I wouldn’t expect a high-scoring output from them this week in a conference game.
College Football Week 4 Prediction: Florida International/Louisiana Tech Under 51.5
