Falcons get upset win
Air Force is off to a 2-0 start to the season after the Falcons picked up a big 30-23 OT win at Colorado last weekend. The Falcons have covered the spread in both games while splitting the over/under total.
The Falcons have looked solid on both sides of the ball to start the year. The defense is giving up just 15 points and 243 yards per game while the offense is averaging 39 points and 454 yards per contest. The Falcons are averaging 356 rushing yards per game this far. Kadin Remsberg is leading the way with 208 yards and three touchdowns while Taven Birdow has 147 yards. Donald Hammond III has thrown for 155 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 48 yards and four scores.
Boise State opens conference play
The Boise State Broncos are 3-0 to start the 2019 season and enter Mountain West Conference play. Boise is coming off a 45-10 win over Portland State last weekend. The Broncos are 2-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the over.
The Broncos are well balanced on offense and defense, with the defense giving up just 16 points and 280.7 yards per game this year. The offense is putting up 31.7 points and 516.3 yards per game. Boise could be short handed this week as Robert Mahone is dealing with a shoulder injury that has him questionable to play on Friday. He has 215 rushing yards with two touchdowns. George Holani has 216 yards to lead the ground attack while Hank Bachmeier has thrown for 927 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions. He has been sacked 10 times, though. Khalil Shakir has been his top target with 17 catches for 237 yards. The defense is being led by linebacker Curtis Weaver, who has 15 tackles and six sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Air Force
The Falcons are 6-1 with the over in their last seven games on fieldturf and 16-7 with the over in their last 23 road games.
Boise State
The Broncos have hit the under in four straight conference games and in six straight against a winning team.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings and have had their fair share of scoring in the last four meetings. Last year saw the two combine for 86 points. I don’t expect that many on Friday, but I think they can hit the over again. Boise State hasn’t been able to successfully snuff out the Falcons’ run game despite seeing it year-to-year. Air Force hasn’t been able to slow down Boise either, giving up 92 points to the Broncos in the last two years. Expect some fireworks in a primetime night game on Friday.
