Latest on Vanderbilt…
The Commodores cruised to a 47-24 victory over Middle Tennessee State as a 3-point home favorite last weekend. Ralph Webb was the headliner for Vandy, rushing 29 times for 211 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Kyle Shurmur threw for just 113 yards and a touchdown. Today at Georgia Tech marks the first time the Commodores will be an underdog this season.
Latest on Georgia Tech…
The Yellow Jackets are 2-0 on the year after downing Boston College 17-14 as a 3-point favorite in Dublin in Week 1 and then cruising to a 35-10 win over Mercer last Saturday. Quarterback Justin Thomas rushed seven times for 69 yards and a touchdown while Qua Searcy led the team with 91 yards on the ground on seven attempts. Matthew Jordan had two touchdowns in the Georgia Tech victory while rushing 12 times for 44 yards.
OUR PREDICTION: Georgia Tech has been on the field way too long defensively in its two games, including last Saturday against a Mercer program it should have had no issues making third-down stops against. The Commodores are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games in September and have cashed in 14 of their last 20 road games. The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, are 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games and 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Look for Vandy's rushing attack and defense to keep the Commodores in the game throughout.
