Latest on Miami…
Junior quarterback Brad Kaaya is coming off a rough performance in the Hurricanes’ win over FAU last week, completing 17-of-31 passes for 191 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. He averaged just 6.2 yards per attempt but fortuntaely for Miami, the Canes’ rushing attack was outstanding. Sophomore Mark Walton rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns on just 17 carries in the 38-10 victory over the Owls.
Latest on Appalachian State…
Junior running back Marcus Cox finished with 133 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries in the Mountaineers’ 31-7 win over Old Dominion last week. All three of Cox’s scores came in the first half after he tallied 115 yards on 24 carries in the season-opening loss at Tennessee…The crowd at Kidd Brewer Stadium today is expected to break an attendance record.

OUR PREDICTION: The Mountaineers have proven time and time again that they cannot be taken lightly. Tennessee was fortunate to escape with a victory in Week 1 and Miami is well aware of how good of a program Appalachian State boasts every season. That said, the Hurricanes’ offensive line averages 312 pounds, while the Mountaineers go 235 pounds, on average, along their defensive line. Miami’s O-line should eventually wear down App State’s defensive front in the second half. Plus, even though he looked shaky a week ago, Kaaya is too talented to put together two dud performances in a row. Miami won’t roll today, but it should be able to cover the small spread.
