Florida State vs. Louisville Prediction
Will No. 2 Florida State be the latest top-5 team to fall in college football when it visits No. 10 Louisville at 12:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, this game is currently a pick'em between the Seminoles and Cardinals after Florida Staet opened as a 3.5-point road favorite. As for the total, the number opened at 65 but has been bet up a full 2.5 points up to 67.5.
Latest on Florida State…
Sophomore defensive end Josh Sweat did not travel with the team on Thursday due to a knee injury. Sweat is the latest injury that the Seminoles are dealing with on defense, as he joins safety Derwin James as defenders that will miss Saturday's game at Louisville. James' timetable is for recovery is currently five to seven weeks after he underwent surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee suffered in FSU's win last weekend versus Charleston Southern.
Latest on Louisville…
Quarterback Lamar Jackson has catapulted himself into the early-season Heisman discussion after compiling 697 passing yards with a 7/1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and 318 yards rushing with six touchdowns through two games. Jackson's 610 total yards last week against Syracuse broke a single-game record in the ACC.
OUR PREDICTION: The injury to James is significant for Florida State's defense. He spied Jackson a year ago when the Seminoles held the Cardinals' quarterback to just 32 yards rushing on 19 carries (1.7 YPC average). With a full season under his belt, Jackson and Louisville's coaching staff should have a better idea of how to attack FSU's defense, especially with the Seminoles now forced to adjust without James. The Cardinals are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games.
