Boston College vs. VA Tech Prediction
Will Boston College cover as a road underdog this afternoon when it visits Virginia Tech at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hokies are 6-point home favorites versus the Eagles while the over/under currently sits at 40.5 points. Latest on Boston College…
The Eagles pushed as a 3-point underdog versus Georgia Tech in Dublin in Week 1 and covered as a 15.5-point favorite versus UMass last Saturday. Patrick Towles led BC in rushing last weekend, taking off 12 times for 66 yards, while also completing 12-of-22 passes for 191 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the victory. Jeff Smith caught five passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns as well.
Latest on Virginia Tech…
Sophomore running back Travon McMillian rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in the Hokies' 45-24 loss to Tennessee last Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway. He averaged 9.1 yards per carry in the loss and scored on a 69-yard touchdown with 2:48 remaining in the first quarter. McMillian looks to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons after racking up 1,043 yards on the ground in 2015.
OUR PREDICTION: The Eagles are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games and are 3-0-2 against the number in their last five games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. The Hokies, meanwhile, are 1-4 at the betting window in their last five home games and are winless at 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. Boston College's defense is good enough to keep the Eagles in the game this afternoon and if VA Tech continues to turn the ball over as much as it has in its first two games (minus-4 turnover margin), then this contest should be close throughout.
