Air Force has started the season 1-0 two weeks ago with a 62-0 win over the Virginia Military Institute two weeks ago. The Falcons hit the over of 55 points on their own. The Falcons dominated the game, posting 647 total yards while allowing just 95 to VMI. Air Force had 16 different players rush the ball during the win. Timothy McVey led the attack with 98 yards on 10 carries. Arion Worthman threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 8 of 12 passing. He also rushed for 33 yards and a score.
Michigan is off to a 2-0 start thanks to a 33-17 win over Florida and a 36-14 win over Cincinnati. The Wolverines 1-0-1 with the over, pushing the 50-point total in last week’s win. Michigan is allowing just 15.5 points and 196 yards per game this season on defense, including just 39.5 yards per game on the ground. The offense is putting up 423.5 yards per game, but struggling somewhat. Wilton Speight has 402 passing yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions while completing just 51.9 percent of his passes. Michigan came into the fall with somewhat of a question at QB, but Jim Harbaugh seems to have committed to Speight. Ty Isaac has run for 247 yards to lead the offense from the running back position.
This game should be a defensive battle in my opinion. The Michigan defense seems to be one of the better ones in the country. They have been able to control the line of scrimmage and avoid big plays. With Air Force being primarily a ground attack, it’s hard to see the Falcons winning consistently up front against the Wolverines. Michigan’s offense is also likely to have some struggles against this Air Force defense. Michigan just isn’t clicking in the pass game and the run game isn’t dominant enough to carry it to the over today.
