Bruins struggling greatly
UCLA is off to a rough start to the 2019 season. The Bruins suffered a 24-14 loss at Cincinnati to open the year and then took a 23-14 loss at home to San Diego State last weekend. The Bruins are 0-2 against the spread and 2-0 with the under.
Despite being coached by Chip Kelly, the UCLA offense looks like a mess. The Bruins are putting up just 14 points and 239.5 yards per game. The defense is giving up 23.5 points and 395 yards per contest. Dorian Thompson-Robinson has thrown for 355 yards and three touchdowns, but also has two interceptions. Demetric Felton is the team’s leading rusher with 99 yards on 33 carries. He is also the leading receiver with 127 yards on nine catches.
Sooners rolling along
Oklahoma is off to a 2-0 start thanks to some impressive offensive numbers. The Sooners have defeated Houston and South Dakota. They are 1-1 against the spread this year and 1-0-1 with the over.
The Sooners are averaging 59.5 points and 709.5 yards per game thus far on offense while giving up just 22.5 points and 378 yards per game on defense. Alabama transfer Jalen Hurts has led the offense with 591 passing yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 223 yards and three scores. Oklahoma has three backs with over 115 yards rushing and CeeDee Lamb is the leading receiver with eight catches for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
UCLA
The Bruins are just 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 home games and 11-23-1 ATS in their last 35 games on grass.
Oklahoma
Oklahoma is 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four games following a win, but just 2-6 ATS in their last eight against a losing team.
Prediction:
Tonight’s stage seems like it could be a chance for UCLA to finally break out. It’s a Saturday night on national television against a prime opponents. However, the Bruins have given us nothing to lead us to believe that will happen. UCLA just has no offense to rely on against a team that puts up massive amounts of offense. The Sooners are hitting the road for the first time, but Hurts is a veteran QB that should handle the environment just fine.
