Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, Virginia is favored at home in this game, as the Cavaliers are getting odds of -7 points against Florida State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 56 points. The public betting currently has 81 percent going on Virginia as a home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Virginia off to 2-0 start

Virginia is coming off a 52-17 win over William & Mary last week to move to 2-0 and get into the rankings. The Cavs are 2-0 against the spread while splitting the over/under total.

The UVA defense has been very strong thus far, holding opponents to 15.5 points and 228 yards per game. Offensively, Virginia is putting up 41 points and 410.5 yards per contest. Quarterback Bryce Perkins has thrown for 373 yards and four touchdowns to lead the UVA offense this year while also leading the team in rushing with 112 yards and a score. Jordan Mack has been leading the Virginia defense thus far with seven tackles and three sacks. UVA has 11 sacks as a team through two games, as well as three interceptions.

Seminoles get OT victory

Florida State is coming off an OT win at home over Louisiana-Monroe, 45-44. The Seminoles are now 1-1 on the season with the win, but they have failed to cover in both games while hitting the over in both contests.

FSU has struggled defensively, as the Seminoles are giving up 40 points and 520 yards per game. Offensively, Florida State is putting up 38 points and 463.5 yards per contest. The Seminoles have been led this season by Cam Akers, who has 309 rushing yards and three touchdowns. James Blackman has thrown for 609 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions. Tamorrion Terry is leading the receivers with 10 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown.

College Football Betting Trends

Virginia

Virginia is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games in September and 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.

Florida State

The Seminoles are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games and 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine games in September.

Prediction:

Florida State has struggled to play at a high level for sustained periods of time in two games at home and now the Seminoles go on the road to face a Virginia team play with a lot of momentum right now. The Cavs have a great defense that should hold up tonight while Florida State won’t have the defensive stops it needs to keep this game close. I like Virginia to control the line of scrimmage and grind out scoring drives to get a cover.
