South Carolina avenges loss
After a tough loss against North Carolina to open the season, South Carolina was able to bounce back last week with a 72-10 victory over Charleston Southern. The Gamecocks are also 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
Through two games, South Carolina is averaging 46 points and 522.5 yards per game on offense while giving up 17 points and 375 yards per contest on defense. South Carolina lost starting quarterback Jake Bentley for the season to a foot injury but Ryan Hilinski has been promising, throwing for 282 yards and two touchdowns on 24 of 30 passing. Four different Gamecocks are already over 115 rushing yards. Kevin Harris has 147 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries. Bryan Edwards is leading the receivers with 119 yards and two scores on six receptions.
Bama still a top team
Alabama has been quite impressive in its first two games, beating Duke and New Mexico State by a combined score of 104-13. The Tide still are just 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
Bama is averaging 557.5 yards per game on offense thus far through two games while holding opponents to just 233 total yards per contest. Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for 563 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 76 percent of his passes to start the year. Jerry Jeudy is his top receiver with 18 catches for 240 yards and four touchdowns. Bama has had a back-by-committee effort as five different players have over 65 rushing yards. Najee Harris is leading the way with 120 yards and a touchdown.
College Football Betting Trends
South Carolina
The Gamecocks are 11-5-3 ATS in their last 19 SEC games and 4-1 ATS int ehir last five against a winning team.
Alabama
Alabama is 5-1 against the spread in its last six SEC games, but just 0-4 ATS in their last four following a win.
Prediction:
South Carolina struggled to move the ball against a team like North Carolina. There is no way the Gamecocks are going to have a ton of success today against this Alabama defense. While Bama is playing in its first true road game, the Tide have played in plenty of tough environments. They can handle themselves in SC. The Bama offense may not completely overpower the Gamecocks, but I see Tua and company putting up enough points to cover the spread.
College Football Week 3 Prediction: Alabama -25.5
