Clemson fails to cover
The Clemson Tigers failed to cover last week in a 24-10 win at home over Texas A&M in one of the week’s featured games. Clemson is 2-0 on the season, 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
Despite somewhat moderate results in scoring, averaging 38 points per game, the Tigers are still putting up 510.5 yards per game this season. Defensively, Clemson is holding opponents to 12 points and 291.5 yards per contest. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 436 yards and two touchdowns, but also has three interceptions. Travis Etienne is leading the way on offense with 258 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Tee Higgins has eight catches for 168 yards and a score. Tanner Muse is leading the defense with seven tackles and two interceptions.
Cuse blasted at Maryland
Syracuse is coming off an absolute beat down on the road when the Orange suffered a 63-20 loss at Maryland last weekend. The Orange are 1-1 on the season, 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
Cuse gave up 650 yards of offense to Maryland in the loss last week, including 354 rushing yards. On the year, Cuse is giving up 31.5 points and 442 yards per game defensively. On offense, the Orange are putting up 22 points and 384 yards per contest. Quarterback Tommy DeVito is leading the team with 506 passing yards and three touchdowns, but also has three interceptions. Trishton Jackson has been his top target. He has 10 catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Moe Neal is the team’s leading rusher with 136 yards and a score. Andre Cisco is leading the defense with 15 tackles and two interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
The Tigers are 5-2 with the over in their last seven road games, but 13-4 with the under in their last 17 games in September.
The Orange are 5-1 with the over in their last six ACC games and 9-3 with the under in their last 12 games in September.
The under has been the play when these two meet. They went under in three straight meetings and six of the last seven in the series. Lawrence hasn’t looked great thus far to start the year and now he has his first road start. While Clemson should be able to run the ball effectively, the Tigers will need to pass the ball in order to hit this over. Syracuse is likely to struggle with the speed of the Clemson defense, so don’t expect the Orange to contribute many points.
College Football Week 3 Prediction: Clemson/Syracuse Under 62.5
