Buckeyes rolling without Urban
Ohio State will be playing its third and final game without head coach Urban Meyer this week, but it hasn’t hurt them thus far. Ohio State has beaten Oregon State and Rutgers by a combined score of 129-34. They are 2-0 against the spread, but have surprisingly hit one under in the two games. Ohio State has actually hit the under in three of its last four games.
The Buckeyes are putting up 650 yards of offense per game thus far and they haven’t been slowed down at all. On the ground, Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins has combined for 364 yards and four touchdowns while quarterback Dwayne Haskins has thrown for 546 yards and nine touchdowns in two games. Defensively, Ohio State is allowing just 263 yards per game, including just 130.5 passing yards.
TCU rolling as well
Despite a shaky start last week, TCU went on to a 42-12 win at SMU to improve to 2-0. The Horned Frogs have beat SMU and Southern by a combined 97-19 this year and they are 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under as well. TCU has hit the under in seven of its last 10 overall.
TCU has been very strong on defense through two games, allowing just 9.5 points and 213.5 yards per contest. On offense, the Horned Frogs are putting up 446 yards per game behind a strong rushing attack. Three different players have over 100 yards on the ground right now. Quarterback Shawn Robinson leads the way with 112 yards and three touchdowns while also throwing for 336 yards and four scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Ohio State
Ohio State has hit the over in eight of its last 11 games after a win and in 9 of its last 13 games on fieldturf.
TCU
TCU has hit the under in four straight against the Big Ten and seven of its last eight after a win.
Prediction:
This is the biggest test for both teams so far this year. It’s possible that Robinson could create a lot of problems for Ohio State because of his mobility, but I expect the Buckeyes to be able to make him just a passer. That will greatly reduce TCU’s offensive capability. The Buckeyes should be too strong and fast on defense for the Frogs. TCU may have some success against Ohio State’s offense, but the Buckeyes should still be able to move the ball somewhat consistently. Through it all, I see this game going under. I don’t think Ohio State will put up a monster number and I see TCU really struggling with Ohio State’s athleticism.
