Stanford Cardinal Game Notes
Stanford redshirt freshman QB Tanner McKee will start over Jack West on Saturday at USC. The Stanford QB battle has taken another turn, with Tanner McKee now in the driver seat over Jack West. Head coach David Shaw said both would play in the Kansas State game, and McKee outplayed his counterpart by a mile. West threw two picks in limited action which forced McKee in, who played well. He went 15-of-18 for 118 yards and a score, and most notably didn’t turn the ball over. That was enough for McKee to get the first nod against USC this weekend.
USC Trojans Game Notes
USC sophomore QB Kedon Slovis completed 24-of-36 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-7 victory over San Jose State this Saturday. Slovis (6’3/215) played well enough to secure the comfortable victory, but he still doesn’t show the impressive arm strength that he displayed in his breakout 2019 season. His first touchdown pass came on a nice lob on the back right side of the end zone that Tahj Washington elevated to catch at it’s highest point for a 29-yard score. His second score came on a low throw down the seam that TE Erik Krommenhoek secured while sliding in the end zone for a 20-yard strike. USC held only a 13-7 lead before the Trojans opened it up with 17 points in the fourth quarter. Southern Cal welcomes Stanford to the Coliseum next Saturday.
