K-State rolling along
Kansas State is off to a 2-0 start with lopsided wins over Nicholls State and Bowling Green. The Wildcats have outscored their two opponents 101-14, covering the spread in both games while splitting the over/under total.
The Wildcats are putting up 547 yards per game on offense thus far, including 347 rushing yards per game. Defensively, Kansas State is giving up 208 yards per game. James Gilbert is leading the ground attack with 218 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Skylar Thompson has thrown for 363 yards and three touchdowns. Malik Knowles has eight catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Bulldogs with 2-0 start
Mississippi State is off to a 2-0 start to the season thanks to a 10-point win over Louisiana-Lafayette and a 23-point win over Southern Miss. The Bulldogs are 1-1 against the spread and 2-0 with the over.
The Bulldogs are putting up 38 points and 441.5 yards per game on offense thus far while giving up 21.5 points and 387 yards per game on defense. State has had a balanced attack on offense with 235.5 yards coming on the ground and 206 coming through the air. Kylin Hill has been leading the offense with 320 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Tommy Stevens has thrown for 341 yards and four scores. Osirus Mitchell is the leading receiver with eight catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
The Wildcats are 5-1 against the spread in their last six against winning teams and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games.
The Bulldogs are 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 home games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games.
This is a good matchup of two under-the-radar Power-5 programs. Mississippi State dominated this game last year at K-State, picking up a 31-10 win. Neither team has really been tested yet, but the Bulldogs have played slightly better competition. I think K-State is going to run into some trouble running the ball effectively against this Mississippi State defensive front. The Bulldogs will look to force the Wildcats into being a passing team, which is where K-State will struggle. I think Mississippi State has the better athletes and better potential as a team. I will go with the Bulldogs to cover at home.
College Football Week 3 Prediction: Mississippi State -7.5
