ASU winning, not covering
Arizona State is off to a 2-0 start thanks to wins over Kent State and Sacramento State. The Sun Devils have failed to cover big spreads in both games while going under in both games.
ASU is putting up 24.5 points and 425 yards per game on offense while giving up just seven points and 252.5 yards per contest. Jayden Daniels is leading the team with 588 passing yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for a score. Eno Benjamin is the leading rusher with 171 yards on 46 carries while Brandon Aiyuk has eight catches for 238 yards with a touchdown.
MSU breaks out
After struggling on offense in its season opener against Tulsa, Michigan State found its offense last week against Western Michigan in a 51-17 victory. The Spartans are 1-1 against the spread thus far while splitting the over/under total.
Through two games, MSU is now averaging 39.5 points and 442.5 yards per game while giving up just 12 points and 216 yards per game on defense. The Spartans are still giving up negative rushing yards to opponents thus far. In the win over Western Michigan, Elijah Collins broke out in the backfield. He now has 209 rushing yards on 25 carries to lead the team while Brian Lewerke has thrown for 506 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Darrell Stewart Jr. is the team’s leading receiver with 16 catches for 241 yards and a score. Kenny Willekes is leading the defense with 12 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
College Football Betting Trends
Arizona State
ASU has hit the under in seven of their last nine against a winning team and in four straight following a win.
Michigan State
Michigan State has hit the under in seven of their last eight on grass and in five of their last six at home.
Prediction:
These two met last season and played a very low-scoring game, but I think things will be different this time around. Michigan State got a spark on offense last week against Western Michigan and may have found its primary back to lead the offense. Arizona State has shown some ability to score. It will be heavily challenged by this tremendous MSU defense, but the Sun Devils don’t need to score much for the over to hit in this game.
College Football Week 3 Prediction: Arizona State/Michigan State Over 41.5
